Shelley Ann Quilty-Lake is an associate with the firm whose areas of practice include employment and civil rights litigation, estate litigation, wills, trusts and estate matters, including administration, accounting and probate matters, as well as guardianship matters. Shelley Ann has been qualified by the Office of Court Administration as a guardian, guardian ad litem, court evaluator, and attorney for alleged incapacitated person, and has been appointed to serve multiple times as a guardian ad litem by the Surrogate’s Courts of Queens, New York and Bronx Counties.
A native of County Wexford, Ireland, she graduated from Trinity College Dublin with a first class honors Bachelor of Arts degree in Business and Economics in 2000. After graduation from Trinity College Dublin, Shelley Ann obtained a scholarship to study a graduate non-degree program in Business Management at Boston College, and after completing her studies graduated from Boston College’s school of education with a Master of Arts degree in Applied Developmental and Educational Psychology in May 2002. She then went on to work as a litigation legal assistant and case manager at Cravath, Swaine & Moore, LLP. While at the firm, Shelley Ann also did pro bono work and served as the pro bono liaison for firm’s project with the Legal Aid Society’s Juvenile Rights Division, advocating for foster care youth for which she received two Pro Bono awards from The Legal Aid Society in 2004 and 2005.
In May 2008, Shelley Ann graduated from the City University of New York (CUNY) School of Law with a Juris Doctor degree. While at CUNY, she did volunteer work for the Mississippi Project post-Hurricane Katrina, in both New Orleans and the gulf coast area of Mississippi, and met her future wife Deenita. During her time at CUNY, Shelley Ann also worked with various non-profit legal aid societies, opportunities that were afforded to her after receiving the Frank Durkan Fellowship, the Joseph Doherty Civil Rights Fellowship, and the Queens County Bar Association Scholarship, amongst others.
Prior to joining Meenan & Associates, LLC, as a full-time associate, Shelley Ann was a litigation associate with Condon & Associates, PLLC, concentrating on civil and commercial litigation matters.
Shelley Ann is on the Board of Directors of the Irish American Bar Association of New York (IABANY). She is a member of the National Employment Lawyers Association (NELA). She is also a member of the Elder Law Section of the New York State Bar Association (NYSBA), the Elder Law and Estates Trusts Section of the New York County Lawyers Association (NYCLA), and the Elder Law and Surrogate’s Court, Estates, and Trusts Committees of the Queens County Bar Association (QCBA). Shelley Ann is a member of the Irish Business Organization of New York (IBO), and has been honored to serve as a guest speaker discussing the issue of estate planning to IBO members.
Shelley Ann is admitted to practice law in New York State, as well as in the Southern and Eastern District Courts of New York. She is also admitted into the Second Circuit Court of Appeals.
